Special Remarks:

Antique round mirror in cast iron frame with an intricate border of good and evil figures. Top of frame has a serene face with robed ladies on the sides reaching upwards, bottom of frame shows a demonic face with gargoyles on either side. Round frame has a wavy edge and a flowering vine throughout. There are two markings on the back "Chinnock's" and "Patent 1850."

The frame has some rust, but most of it is on the back. The face at the bottom has a chip in the middle (picture 2) and there is a similar type of chip below the face at the top. Mirror glass is original to frame, it has some cloudiness, loss of silvering, and minor surface scratches.

The arm in the back is not actually a stand, this mirror was once attached to something else and was broken off. The arm will hold the mirror up on a flat surface, but it was not designed for this and is not very stable. You would need to add some extra support to the back to stabilize it on a flat surface. Another option would be to mount this on a wall with a small bracket around the arm in back.

Overall an incredible piece of historical craftsmanship, and quite possibly one of its kind! Frame measures 8 by 7 inches with a mirror opening of 5.5 by 5 inches.
